I am currently looking for insurance for my mother who will be visiting us soon.
I found this, on the net and though of sharing with every one.
An interesting article about visitor insurance, from India.
" Check your insurance policy before going abroad"
http://www.rediff.com/money/2002/jul/13insur.htm
one thing, I am sure insurance from India is definetly cheaper then from US, BUT not worth..?
Now the other puzzle I have to solve is to choose, Which one from USA..
Still looking..? I like the info given on this website though..I think I will go for Liaison.. Thanks..

I had a good experience with TATA-AIG. My parents were here in May 2003 for a month and they purchased insurance from TATA-AIG from India. My mother got high fever as soon as she arrived. I contacted TATA-AIG and they immediately sent me the required paper work by email and we went to the hospital approved by TATA-AIG. After my parents returned to India, they received the money back after $100 deductible. So, I would recommend TATA-AIG. |

I see that Inbound from this site covers on a fee basis , yet some plans like Visitors Care DO NOT COVER HEART AND CANCER, I knowe that our people from India have these conditions more frequently than the rest of the USA population,, I guess its not a good idea to buy a limited coverage plan... |

Coris America - a firm to be avoided |

My father had purchased coverage from Oriental whose claims in US are handled by Coris. I have found Coris to be extremely poor in customer service - they can be quite rude, keep referring you to a claim tel # where no one answers and you are told to leave a msg and expect a response in 5 business days!! |

Rahul, Did you get your mothers insurance from "Mercury"? So far as I am aware, Mercury does not represent any of the Indian insurance company now. Did you get the insurance directly from Mercury without any Indian underwriter? Incidentally, no company will underwrite (cover) a pre-existing disorder and even if some company tricks you by using some fancy words, please kenow for sure that when push comes to shove, they will back out. |

I got insurance from mercury for my mother. She had Heart surgery couple of years back. None of the insurance is willing to cover pre-existing condition on any cost. Is there any insurance which can cover pre-existing condition. Thanks in advance

Insurance with pre-existing conditions |

I purchased insurance from indianetwork.org. My MIL had a heart attach and they didn;t pay a dime so far. She never had a heart attack/problem before. But she had diabetics (not chronic), she was taking medicines. They are saying heart attack could be due to diabetics and so declined the claim. I feel the insurance is a rip off and pure fraud. Does anyone know of any insurance who has paid for such high bills (with preexisting conditions). |
